A Conversation for Our Times!
“Have spiritual consumers crossed the line to become abuses of Mother Earth, facilitating the continuing destruction of her inner matrices, layer upon layer in the quest for spiritual awakening, enlightenment, healing, and mystical encounters! To hold and meditate upon the very fabric that makes Her give us life, and is also the driving force for ripping the Her apart!
In the quest for greater spiritual awareness and consciousness, millions and millions of people worldwide, myself included, have crystals of all colors, shapes, sizes, and qualities, and for the majority that is in small to medium amounts.
At the beginning of March I visited the huge International Tucson Gem Show on two separate occasions. On the first visit, I was overwhelmed by the size, the number of vendors, the number of stones, crystals, sizes, shapes and locations of where they had been mined across Planet Earth. I only visited three locations, huge as they were, only three of probably fifty-plus locations around the city.
Walking by displays of massive stones, geodes, clusters, some still with soil dust on them,
my heart wanted to cry. Even the ones that were beautifully displayed and clean, similar feelings and tears just wanted to flow. Thousands upon thousands of small, polished stones, ones I knew and others I had never heard of, were on display for purchase. People in the booths, different cultures, and nationalities, from every continent, created a melting pot of colors and languages.
That day I also met several wonderful vendors who expressed great knowledge of products, varying types of business and personal integrity. I felt this through the stones, crystals, jewelry and products they offered. Of course, there were many vendors I did not meet exampling the same qualities. However, then there were some vendors in it just for the money, the blunt business of spiritual commercialism.
On the second visit, I met several more vendors whose work with crystals and jewelry I found amazing. I also wanted to take another view of the show with a more objective eye than on the first visit. With this new lens, even those in it for the money, I could appreciate them as people there to support themselves, families and communities.
The pictures you see represent a mere tiny % of all on display at the Gem Show. The Tucson Gem Show was first held in 1955, and as it grew in size more display buildings were added in 1973 and 1990. Today, vendors and buyers come from approximately forty-nine states and thirty-three countries.
According to one vendor, ONLY the purest and most pristine quartz crystals are used in COMPUTERS, CELL PHONES and in the LED screens and lights we use daily. Less perfect crystals find their way to other markets and the public around the world. I was told the pristine quartz crystals are found in mountains ranges above 20,00ft in Nepal, Pakistan, Tibet and possibly the Andes. Due to the extreme altitudes, no heavy equipment can be used, therefore, all mining is done by hand and carried out. Incredibly grueling work!
To get other objective views concerning this topic, I contacted two dear friends Leela Hutchison, GIA, G.G. http://www.thecrystalgiants.com and Nan Olson, https://www.altarspace.net, who have and are in the world of crystals, geology, environmental ethics, and both with strong spiritual awareness. After sharing my views, observations and concerns on the topic I asked if they would share their thoughts.

“At the beginning of the Tech Computer boom many Extremely High Light Frequency Quartz from Arkansas were used to conduct information in computers. Later Lab-grown Quartz from SEEDS of these Special High Resonance Crystals was used, therefore spreading the use and Light of this Exceptional Quality.
Many governments all over the world had and probably still do, stockpiles of these Lab-grown crystals.
They are still mining Great Quality Quartz in Arkansas but it has gotten more Expensive over these last 30 years, making Arkansas Quartz not as available, and making the Few Big Boys Rich. Yes, Quartz is available all over The World but quality varies and that does matter!
Using the example of the Tucson Gem Show operating since 1955, plus all the other large and small gem and mineral shows nationally and internationally these days, can you imagine the massive tons and tons of stones, crystals, and minerals already taken from Mother Earth!
Now to the dilemma at hand. Quartz crystals and the huge variety of precious and semi-precious crystals and stones are known as “transmitters and receivers” of vibrations, energies, healing properties and information from beyond the 3-D world, in the infinite world of consciousness, mysteries, and spiritual awakening, the place where Source, Creator, God, and Goddess presence resides.

In no way am I discounting the beauty, the amazing qualities of healing and help crystals, stones, and minerals of every variety, purpose, and beauty. Perhaps one of the most beautiful that evolved from the leftover crystals used in the computer industry, are the amazing Singing Crystal Bowls. Through advanced technology in optics, 
communication, and medicine, crystals and their healing properties are used and included in many new ways. We would like to think all these new applications are done for the betterment and improvement of humanity as a whole but sadly, that is not always the case.
So perhaps it is from this perspective the conversation has taken shape!
These crystals, precious and semi-precious stones, and minerals are part of the fabric of the web of Earth and her communication system, along with oil, gas, gold, silver, copper, and so many other minerals. The abuses of big corporations worldwide are well known, of who takes and who cannot. I learned this fact while being shown around one of Ted Turner’s New Mexico ranches many years ago. The story goes, when he purchased the property he had not been aware of the hidden caveat until natural gas was found on the property. This is when he learned, he owned what was above the ground. No-one, but the designated (BLM and similar mining giants), can own the mineral and fossil rights below the surface. You may think you own the land your home is on, yet if oil, gold or any other “valuable asset” is found, they do not belong to you, they belong to whoever has been designated by the “power elite!”
In all the years of mining surely there are enough gems, minerals, fossils, and fuels out of the ground now to satisfy our needs? From individual collections, business selling crystals, these elements used medicine and health industries, and artistic creation collections, and well as “stockpiles” for the future! Countries stockpile fuels, grains, and other commodities for the “proverbial rainy day” when in reality it is to play the game of supply and demand, to boost or lower prices.

Perhaps now it is long past time for the spiritual, metaphysical, and alternative healing seekers to rethink and reset their relationship to what Mother Earth provides!
Can the collective WE change enough to recycle, share, exchange, donate and repurpose all that is now out of the ground, enhance our intuition, and ask these living beings where and who they wish to be with next and for what reason?
Can there be a sincere demand for the stoppage of mining and ripping more out from the Mother Earth/Gaia, and at the same time, find alternative solutions to land destruction and create viable ways for towns, villages, regions, and countries to support the populations and land!

Watch some of the videos linked below, to see and hear of how massive corporate mining is! Mining in Africa, South America, Russia, India, Eastern Europe, China, Australia, and the United States are stripping the land, and then in too many cases, companies walk away leaving massive holes and destruction of the land and environment. Probably far too many of the huge pieces I saw at the Gem Show came from mines such as these.
I realize few people will venture this far into the article, yet for those who do and are curious, watch some of the videos for a larger perspective at the same time, paying attention to how your body feels!

The conversations with Leela and Nan virtually mirrored each other in views. The incredible gifts that Mother Earth has revealed to us through these living beauties were first. Then the healing properties, the positive uses in medicine, technology, and understanding the greater universe, above and below the land surface. Both mentioned there must be balance and conscious awareness of what is being taken out of the earth as well. Now, it has gone over the tipping point and restraint is needed from now on, to help repair and educate on restoring the Earth’s balance.

Both mentioned having great concerns at the massive destruction that has grown over
the past 10 – 15 years especially. That they source their products very carefully, mainly through long-established relationships with suppliers worldwide. They support ethical, safe and fair mining that provide mining villages and workers fair wages and conditions, that do not use child labor and that have a connection to the stones and where they should go.
From Nan Olson:
“I have seriously wondered the same! Instead of these vibrating in Mother Earth, they are in homes all over the Planet. There has always been the issue of how consciously these minerals have been removed!
I deal with families I have known for over 25 years, that seem to love what they do from a more respectful place. I handpick EVERY PIECE from a clean vibratory resonance that I have developed of learning 40 years, that cannot be said for many in business now. I try to pick crystals mined by hand.
There is a lot of misinformation out there and prices are all over the place. I physically would feel ill when I went into the Big Halls in Tucson with outrageous prices, so much taken and on display.
So it is a balancing act for me to figure out what I can sell and feel good about. Now, much of what I am selling is my Energy stones collected over 40 years. I have fed them so much love and they returned to me that love as well. The rest is Mystery! I have thought if Mount Shasta goes off and our tome is buried – in the distant future they will think they found Lemuria!”
This was a written comment from Nan Olson.
Both these women also acknowledged knowing companies and people whose ethical business practices were not of the standard they would deal with. I learned there are appropriate international monitoring bodies to report questionable practices to, if necessary. In almost all cases, mining in these regions is the only industry to sustain the local population, thus opening the way for people to be taken advantage of in many ways.
The Question Arising Now!
Can WE open minds and hearts to create economic and sustainable ideas and solutions for towns and communities that rely on this destruction, to change it to revive and rebirth themselves to save instead of destroying them?
Now for the correlation concerning the title “Responsible Spiritual Consciousness and Commercialism”.
Please, bear with me for a moment as I begin this conversation with a diversion. I go back to 1978 when President Reagan authorized the Deregulation of the Airline Industry, and the subsequent impact this had worldwide.
For ten years, deregulation promised and delivered in more choices, lower prices, more routes, and better service. Then, in 1992 the computer industry started taking hold of changing access to the world at large for novice travelers. Airlines established their computerized reservation systems, the world was becoming smaller in access for travelers, and the competition for those travelers increased.
Over time, airlines merged and taken over in quick succession, and some intentionally destroyed, until what was left in the United States was Delta, United, American, Southwest, and their smaller off-shoots. We lost Pan Am, TWA, Continental, Eastern, Northwest, Braniff, and some other smaller airlines. Subsequently, and over time quality of service went down, fares would go up and down, comfort squeezed, fuel, taxes, and fees increased, and pretend perks to entice a sort of loyalty.
From 1989 to 1995 I owned and managed Maya-Eco Tours, a small wholesale travel company and loved it. We designed tours for individuals and groups, specializing in Mayan Archeology and Spirituality, Ecology, Natural History, Diving and Deep-Sea Fishing to Mexico and Central America (Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize, Guatemala), guiding clients to have magical experiences through our unique offerings.
As an example of a changing perspective!
Around 1990, after hearing a powerful presentation by Jean Michel Cousteau (his father was famous Oceanographer, Jacque Cousteau) on how the travel industry as a whole, (hotels, airlines, cruise and shipping lines, rental companies, foreign tour companies, all who profit from Ecotourism destinations) have a responsibility to contribute economically to protect and sustain the destinations they sell and profit from so substantially. I was incredibly moved by this idea, prompting my small travel company to begin a project (The World Preservation Order) of donating a % of the profit from every client’s trip, where they visited and stayed in various regions in a country. Donations were made back to local communities and NGOs, that were teaching the people why saving their environment will bring more visitors and prosperity. Saving versus killing the loggerhead turtles, saving instead of cutting down forests, building a wildlife sanctuary versus chasing the animals away. For a time, other companies large and small began similar donation programs yet they disappeared after a year or so when environmental prudence began to wear off!
With the continuing growth and influence of computers, online business and all other developments within society, changes, and adaptations were necessary, for my business and the travel industry at large. All too often these changes resulted in greed and abuse for the Big Bucks with no care for truth, integrity, community or the future.
In 1995 I closed my company, as it was the end of the personalized travel agency industry that had brought opportunity, awakening, personal relationships, and magic to millions and millions of people everywhere. It was time to change directions and perspectives on what was usual to the new unknown.
An additional piece of information shared by Nan:
“Something to remember is that many rare and valuable Gemstones are also grown in a Lab from a Seed of the “Earth Grown Mother” and exactly replicates the vibration and purity without inclusions. It will test as the Seed of the “Mother” Gemstone. It is ethical and much less expensive than an Earth Grown Stone.
Diamonds now are being grown in this way and have become more popular and much more ethical than DeBeers’ control of Diamond Mining and exploitation of workers, the land and manipulated pricing as one example. (DeBeers mining takes place in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Canada, and Australia.

There is always a lot to learn especially in this “New Find” World of Crystals and Minerals. I have found in my Journey, the Divine Overview of what Our Earth Mother brought to the Surface to Reveal the Energies of a Particular Stone or Crystal formation Always was in Harmony with our Evolution or Lesson.
As one example, 5 years ago the most amazing Amphibole inclusions in Quartz were found in Brazil, one pocket of very Shamanic Visionary Crystals. They also worked with Angelic, Master Realms and Immunity. This I SEE is Timely.” 💜🔮💜
Thus, what we can understand from what both Leela and Nan are saying, is that there are now beautiful alternatives with more to come, for creating and obtaining beautiful, powerful crystals, created from the “Mother Seed Crystal” to serve many applications and needs of industry, health and spiritual populations worldwide. Offering the opportunity to reduce the ongoing destruction of Mother Earth’s fabric of life. This is a step in the right direction!
The Role of Intent:
During a conversation earlier this week with another dear friend who is also very knowledgeable of crystals and their healing properties, mentioned the Role of Intent and how it applies to choose and work with these living beings.
The Role of Intent is as important in working with crystals as it is in all areas of our lives. The Intent referred to, is the intangible focus put on or into dreams, visions, actions, and beliefs that promote outcomes. The Intent focus can be of love, friendship, truth, healing and so on or misdirection, deceit, corruption, and danger to others.
When working with or searching for crystals, precious and semi-precious gems, creating a pure desired Intent will guide you to the right stone at the right time, for it will synchronize with your resonant frequency, raising its vibrational hand to say “I am here!” This will be true of earth-mined stones and lab-grown stones from the Seed of the Mother Gem.
Where are we heading?
Maybe I hold Spiritual Communities and those in the pursuit of awakening and enlightenment to higher standards than are realistic. I believe, all the prayers, mantras, initiations, alignments, and holy actions will be for naught on the day the last crystal is ripped from its deep, dark place, somewhere on the Earth, while more lives are lost, and it just happens to be the event that activates the “Kill Switch” and She, Mother Earth dies!
Looking through today’s eyes, we are not aware enough of Mother Earth, her role in Life and the Wisdom of Divine Creation. Perhaps we have to earn the right to have this knowledge revealed, to prove WE, collectively, will start walking the path of protecting Her! WE, as Humanity haven’t paid attention and cared enough to see the clues given!
Perhaps, Greta Thunberg’s message and so many other young ones have been the messengers of those clues today!
Remember back to the sixties and seventies, when we were their ages, now the Baby Boomers. We were trying to send and shared pretty much the same messages – stop wars, poverty, greed, and corruption, instead bring peace, love, openness, truth and fair prosperity for all, not just here but worldwide!
Yes, this is one of the finite problems in our world today, just like the multitude of problems, issues, and divisions that need to be illuminated from the darkness to see, just as Spiritual Consciousness needs to be awakened for the Light to shine the way ahead!
From Royalty and High Ranking Officials to the Lowly Beautiful Souls across this great Planet Earth, no-one can or will be protected from an Atlantis experience revisited.
When I started writing this article it was just at the beginning of our world being turned upside down. As the days passed with more research done, and conversations Leela, Nan and others very familiar with the topic I am presenting, unexpected “downloads of information” would come through as I hiked in nature.
In so many ways it is the representation of what is happening now, and the virus could be looked at as a metaphor, an insidious destructive infection that is and has been destroying Planet Earth, Gaia and the people for far, far too long!
This is the TIME for a RESET!
NOW, only actions and choices through pure love of life for all will show the collective US the way forward to revive Mother Earth’s healing frequency!
