magnificence 2We all have those little or not so little traits that we would rather hide from others and/or avoid completely. That is, of course, until they come up and face you square in the eyes and have to be dealt with!

Procrastination and avoidance are what I have to admit to in this instance! Yet out of it has come some surprising revelations!

At the beginning of this year I decided it was time to change the name on my passport to match the name on my license, from one married name to other.

Before I go any further a side note: The male populations of most countries have no idea how lucky they are with the fact they don’t have to change their identity whenever they marry. Women on the other hand, from the dictates of many years past, are required to change their name to that of the husband, a beginning that was close to indicating ownership of someone or something. Thankfully now in many countries women have the choice to change their name or not.

Prior to 2001 having two names, traveling with all the right documents showing you are one and the same person was validated by the system when entering one or both names. You, your information and history were on the computer screen to be easily seen.

About five years ago the smoothness went to sticky to now it is stuck in mountains of super glued red tape, and even insiders have agreed with image!  This is where procrastination finally caught up with me!

In January with all the correct original documents backing up my life with these two names I had an interview in Phoenix, AZ. They took copies in the interview and fingerprints were done. Then the waiting game began. About 8 to 9 months till completion I was told.

Two weeks ago I receive a letter requesting all documentation to prove my names and reason for the change. Is it possible that the first set of documents I presented to the authorities are still sitting in a file box in Phoenix!

Next the letter stated the two sets of fingerprints taken that day were unacceptable and I now have to provide proof of where I have lived for the past 10 years.

Wow……how on earth am I going to achieve this! This took more than a couple of days to sink in and find the solution.

Of course for a great deal of people this would not be a problem. They have either lived in the same home or town for many, many years. For others a couple of moves are easy to track and paperwork abounds. From here the groups with increasing numbers of moves decrease in number.

In the past 13 years I have been a very fluid and free spirit. (Although that was not the case during my 25 years of marriages.) Life has been and still is a Spiritual Journey of Discovering Who I am, Why I am Here and What I Am to Give Back and be of Service to Life.

The search for answers begins with pencil and paper……I can name the locations, towns, city and states. Specific addresses were a challenge. I could picture the house, apartment or land but could not remember the physical addresses.

I had chosen to stop using credit cards in 2003 as part of the journey to learn and understand how money, abundance and prosperity flows or doesn’t in response to one’s need and wants. It was around that time that I realized how corrupt and unreal the money system really was. Thus for these reasons a credit report was of no use because I had no history to track.

Next the bank I had been using for 15 years. Their computer systems don’t keep track of former addresses. Old ones are deleted when updates are changed (or at least this is what I was told.) Then I tried the same thing with the car insurance company and the deal was the same. I thought about tax records but whatever I have are in a box in someone’s attic a long way from here.

STUCK! The obvious places were dead ends. I had some proof of addresses but holes remained!

On the surface my nomadic life was odd, random and uneasy for some people. For others there was the wish to be and do something similar. To find the answers I needed I had to look deeper.

Underneath I am unchanging and predictable: the same bank and insurance company for 15 years; the same cell phone number for 11 years; the same email address for 11 years; driven the same car for 16 years and she has just turned over 300,000 miles!

And there lay the answer! Since driving her off the lot in Sedalia, MO in 1998 with 500 + miles on the odometer, every time tires were purchased or service was done I would slip the finally paperwork into the glove box. I even have the original sales paperwork.

Sitting in the sun I laid out all the paperwork, put it in date and location order and there was the time line and mapping of life for 16 years. Now not only do I have the address proof needed but also confirmation of the same phone number, same vehicle, running tab of the mileage, directions traveled and locations visited and all the care given to Little Girl along the way.

Next week all this will be put to use to validate the requests of the letter mentioned.

What it has further given me is the time to review of the many places I have been, the wonderful people I have met, experiences share and lessons learned.

Where have you lived in the past 10 years? Is there a time line and map to show in black and white! Who have you met, what have you done, how have you grown…….where are you going from here?
